Law 71 – Position Yourself To Be Peaceful To Change Your Life
Just as treasures are uncovered from the earth, so virtue appears from good deeds, and wisdom appears from a pure and peaceful mind. To walk safely through the maze of human life, one needs the light of wisdom and the guidance of virtue.(Buddha)
Peace / Peaceful – Freedom of the mind from annoyance, distraction, anxiety, an obsession, etc.; tranquillity; serenity. A state of mutual harmony between people or groups. Peaceable; not argumentative, quarrelsome, or hostile.
So What Exactly Is Peace Of Mind?
Peace of mind is an elusive thing, sometimes.
Some people search for it for an entire lifetime and never find it.
HOWEVER, that’s not going to happen to you, or to me.
We can find peace of mind, right here, right now.
Peace of mind is freeing our minds from annoyances, distractions, anxiety, obsessions, etc.
Basically, it is letting go.
That’s not always an easy thing to do, but I believe it’s easier than we sometimes make it out to be.
Simply decide what it is that you want to release and then let it go.
We’re all smart people here.
We can understanding what’s going on.
If we simply make up our minds to follow one particular course of action, we can easily cut off any other courses of action.
If we decide that we want to be peaceful, we can shut off everything else and be peaceful.
Another Quote To Consider
Do not confuse peace of mind with spaced-out insensitivity. A truly peaceful mind is very sensitive, very aware.
(Tenzin Gyatso, The 14th Dalai Lama)
I don’t know about you, but anytime the Dalai Lama speaks, I pay attention and I listen.
You may or may not agree with him politically, but he is definitely a person worth listening to.
What I believe he is suggesting is that the more peaceful we become, the more aware we become.
In other words, becoming peaceful is NOT clearing our mind or everything, it is clearing our mind of junky thoughts and leaving room for only the most important things.
That’s what peace of mind is all about.
So, What’s A Person To Do?
My thoughts are that we should all learn how to relax and FOCUS.
To me focus, is the most important part of being at peace with one’s self and the rest of the universe.
Focus – A central point, as of attraction, attention, or activiy.
We all need a central point of focus.
Now, this central point of focus must be chosen carefully.
It must be consistent with our life’s purpose; with our life’s goals.
If it is consistent, wonderful.
If it is NOT, then it will serve to hurt us much more than it will help us.
The bottom line is that we must choose for ourselves and we must choose carefully.
We’ve Chosen, So What Do We Do Next?
It’s really that simple.
Simply start relaxing and start doing.
The very act of deciding for ourselves what is going to be our central area of focus clarifies things.
It forces us, voluntarily, to move in the right direction.
That’s what peace is all about.
No force; no requirements.
Instead, peace will come from simply taking action on our own choices which will move us in our own directions.
