Change Your Life – Law #14 – Position Yourself To Be Conscious

No problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it.

(Albert Einstein)

Consciousness – The state of being conscious; awareness of one’s own existence, sensations, thoughts, surroundings, etc.. The mental activity of which a person is aware as contrasted with unconscious mental processes.

I Bet You Didn’t Know Einstein Was A Philosopher

Of all the things I’ve read and heard about Einstein, he was a deep thinker.

In order to comprehend physics on his level, you pretty much would have to be a great thinker.

Based upon the quote above, it’s obvious that Einstein thought about more than physics.

He also thought about philosophy.

The interesting part is that his philosophical quote above is pretty much an equation.

In order to solve a problem, one must increase their level of consciousness.

There is a direct causal relationship.

The higher your level of consciousness, the great chance you have of solving any given problem.

What Is Consciousness?

Consciousness is basically awareness.

Awareness of a great many things, such as your existence, your sensations, your thoughts, your surroundings, your actions, etc..

By being aware, you will gain a better understanding of your life and your environment.

There is a Navajo saying that roughly translates as:

Walk in harmony in the universe by being aware of who you are.

Notice how important awareness was to the Navajo people.

They felt it was necessary to know yourself in order to live in harmony.

Is Consciousness The Same Things As Being Awake?

Most people equate consciousness with being awake.

They equate unconsciousness with being asleep, or knocked out.

I believe that not all who are awake are conscious.

Every day I see many people who walk through life without being the least bit aware of what goes on around them.

They simply exist.

They basically walk around on auto-pilot.

Why Aren’t People More Aware?

I believe it is because it is far easier to go through life being unaware than it is to be conscious of everything going on around us.

Carl Jung said: There is no coming to consciousness without pain.

It is sometimes painful to be aware.

If you are unaware, you are not aware of problems around you, so you don’t necessarily have to deal with them.

Unfortunately, if you are unaware of the problems around you, you will probably also be unaware of the opportunities around you.

By increasing your level of consciousness:

  • VISION – you increase the likelihood you will position yourself to have the vision to see opportunities others do not see;
  • ATTRACTION – you will position yourself to attract opportunities others do not attract;
  • READINESS – you will position yourself to be ready to act upon opportunities that others are not ready to act upon; and
  • ACTION – you will position yourself to actually take action upon opportunities that others let pass them by.

Contrasting the Laws of Positioning With The Law of Attraction

The Law of Attraction says that if you focus on attracting opportunities, all will be wonderful in your life.

To me, there’s a lot more to it than that.

Think about it, you can attract all the opportunities in the world, but if you don’t have the vision to recognize them, or you’re not ready to act upon them or if you don’t actually act upon them, you’re not going to get anywhere.
