What Do I Believe?
- Opportunities are all around us, each and every day; and
- It is only those of us who recognize those opportunities AND who are in a position to act upon those opportunities, who will be able to take advantage of them.
Those Who Are The Most Prepared Have The Best Luck
It really is that simple. The more you are prepared to face whatever opportunities come our way; the more good luck you will experience.
Probability theory says that given enough time; given enough opportunities; everything can and will happen.
For example, take a dice cube and roll it. There is an equal chance you will get a 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6.
Now, roll that dice ten times. Probability says that you will average something in the area of 3 to 4 when you add up all the rolls.
What are the chances of you rolling ten straight 1’s ? What are the chances of you rolling ten straight 6’s ?
The answer is, not very good. But, but, but, if you were to do it enough times; say a billion times, I bet somewhere along the way you will roll:
- 1 – ten times straight;
- 2 – ten times straight;
- 3 – ten times straight;
- 4 – ten times straight;
- 5 – ten times straight;
- 6 – ten times straight.
Given those circumstances, would you consider yourself lucky if you rolled ten 6’s in a row ???
I would say BOTH yes and no. The reason you got lucky was that you obeyed the laws of probability. You rolled the dice a billion times (or the entire human race collectively rolled the dice a billion times) and it happened to come up for you.
In other words, by simply rolling the dice, YOU PREPARED YOURSELF TO MEET THE OPPORTUNITY AND YOU WERE LUCKY AS A RESULT.
A Real Life Example
I’m often criticized because I like to constantly monitor my emails. I remember a time when a TREMENDOUS opportunity presented itself by email (no, not the email scams, but a real one). It was NOT an opportunity for me, BUT it was a tremendous opportunity for a friend. That friend NEVER saw the email and wasn’t even a participant on that email list, so they would have never seen it.
BECAUSE I WAS WATCHING AND BECAUSE I WAS PREPARED, I IMMEDIATELY SEIZED THAT OPPORTUNITY AND SNAGGED IT FOR MY FRIEND.
However, if I had NOT been monitoring my emails, someone else might have grabbed the opportunity first.
Questions For You?
- Are you prepared to be lucky?
- Are you prepared for good things to happen to you?
- Are you positioned (i.e. prepared) deal with whatever opportunities come your way BEFORE everyone else around you has the opportunity to react?
If you TRULY CAN SAY YES to all 3 questions, then I can almost guaranty that you will have more good luck than others around you.
